Paul Elias

Elias has won six tournaments in his 42-year fishing career. He introduced the kneel-and-reel technique, which is used to catch large bass, and established the all-time weight record for a five-bass-limit tournament during the 1982 Bassmaster Classic. Elias has been the Elite Series champion at heavyweight for many years.

Seth Feider

Seth Feider is from Minnesota. He qualified for Bassmaster Classic through a strong finish to the Elite Series points. He made the top 25 cut on Sunday and weighed in a 5 lb 15 oz Hartwell toad on the final day. He's been consistent and should be able compete for Angler of Year titles in the future.

Ashley Hackney

Tomorrow will see the MLF world championship tournament begin on Lake Nacogdoches (a 2,212-acre lake located in East Texas). Hackney believes that smaller fish can be caught in these waters and is more likely to catch trophy-sized bass. Hackney lost a piece on his front porch that was left behind tackle during the competition. Here's why.

How To

How to cast a fishing rod perfectly

Casting a fishing pole requires that you use your wrist to guide the rod's handle toward the water. Keep the rod slightly off the body, so the line is parallel to it. As you move the rod forward, ensure that the rod tip is perpendicular with the water's surface. Fish won't bite if the rod's tip touches the surface of the water before it reaches the bottom. You can increase the distance between the tip of the rod and the surface of the water by practicing this technique.

If you don't feel comfortable casting a rod yet, here are some tips to make it easier.

To begin, keep the rod as close to you chest as possible. You will be able to easily control the rod’s direction without having your back bent.

You may also want to place a tripod along the shoreline or on top of a rock ledge when casting heavy rods. You'll be able rest your rod securely and still have control of the reel.

A third option is to buy a smaller reel than an expensive one. A cheaper spinning reel will let you cast farther distances and help you improve your hand-eye coordination.

A fishing pole holder is another option. These holders can hold your rod securely while keeping it upright. They're easy to store away after use and protect the rod from getting damaged.

Fifth, practice casting until the motion becomes natural. Casting a fish rod is a skill that takes time.

Sixth, patience is the key to successful fishing. Waiting for the right moment is crucial. Once the strike occurs, you must work hard to reel in the fish.
